Environmental responsibility

Principles of social and environmental responsibility are essential for stable and efficient business development and are an important part of business strategy of the FESCO Group.

Management of the company has successfully implemented and maintains an Integrated Management System. It combines four management systems, including:

  • Security management system;
  • Quality management system;
  • Environmental management system;
  • Occupational health and safety management system.

The Integrated Management System provides for:

  • financing of the optimization of social and environmental protection programs;
  • improval of image of the Company;
  • improval of environmental culture, responsibility and discipline of employees of the Group;
  • improval of record management system;
  • improval of competitiveness of the Group;
  • improval of customer confidence;
  • improval of the quality of services;
  • creation of new opportunities in global markets.

Compliance of the Integrated Management System with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 was confirmed by the Russian Register and SAI Global Russia on the basis of audit procedures conducted in October 2009.

The purpose of environmental management system is to improve safety of the company and to reduce its harmful impact on the environment. In 2009 compliance of the environmental management system with ISO 14001:2004 was confirmed by the Russian Register, SAI Global Russia and IQNet.

In 2009 the FESCO Group signed the Copenhagen Communique confirming compliance of the company with high standards of environmental protection and its active contribution to preservation of the planet by promoting environmentally friendly methods of cargo transportation.

In 2007 the crew of vessel Igarka owned by the Transportation Group was awarded the green flag of the port of Long Beach, USA as confirmation of participation in the voluntary program of the port aimed at reducing negative impact on the environment.

Environmental program of the port has been implemented since January 1, 2005 and the green flag of the Program is being transferred to those companies the vessels of which have minimized harmful emissions into the atmosphere within a twenty-mile zone around the port over the past year.
